PRESS RELEASE: Barchart Launches Extensive ETF Fundamental Data Service

CHICAGO, IL – March 4, 2010 – Barchart.com, Inc., a leading provider of market data and information, today announced the launch of a new Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) fundamental data service. The fundamental ETF dataset, including Exchange Traded Notes (ETN), is an extensive database of reference, financial and price related information covering all U.S. listed ETFs and ETNs. The dataset is available from Barchart as a data feed service, as well as hosted website content.

“ETFs are a unique financial instrument, not to be treated like stocks, not to be treated like mutual funds. Barchart analysts have spent considerable time analyzing the dynamics of the ETF marketspace, to compile a dataset that is relevant and important to market professionals in the wealth management, index, and advisory fields,” said Eero Pikat, President of Barchart. “Our dataset offers a singular source for the key data points needed to make critical analytical decisions for ETFs and ETNs,” added Pikat.

Barchart’s fundamental ETF data includes over 900 ETFs and dozens of data fields, including sectors, top holdings, assets under management, fund family information, and key financial ratios and returns. In addition to the most comprehensive ETF fundamental database available, Barchart also provides real-time, delayed, end-of-day and historical ETF price data.

A critical component to a well-functioning and efficient cash / physical commodity marketplace is the availability and distribution of local or regional cash commodity prices. Within the agricultural markets local grain elevators and cooperatives (buyers of grain) calculate and distribute their local cash prices (bids) to local producers (sellers of grain). The grain buyer’s bids are based off the elevator’s/coop’s basis and a specific futures contract. The grain buyer posts bids for multiple delivery periods, usually months, with varying basis levels for those periods.

Some elevators have multiple locations and buy multiple commodities which increases the number of cash bids they must calculate each day. This task becomes quite time-consuming without an automated process. AgriCharts, the agricultural division of Barchart, provides web-based cash grain bid management solutions for grain elevators, cooperatives and other buyers of grain. AgriCharts’ solutions include cash bid integration with third-party systems, calculation, distribution and cash bid displays. AgriCharts’ solutions are designed to make the cash grain bid management and distribution process more efficient and effective.

The “Chart of the Day” is the Acxiom Corp (ACXM), which showed up on today’s Barchart “Signals – Top 100 Stocks” list. Acxiom today is consolidating below Wednesday’s 2-1/3 year high. Axciom, with a market cap of $1.2 billion, provides IT data and systems outsourcing services for its enterprise clients. Acxiom on Jan 28 reported fiscal-Q3 EPS of 18 cents, which was above the market consensus of 15 cents. Baird on Jan 25 upgraded Acxiom to Outperform from Neutral and raised the target to $20 from $11 due to the improving marketing environment, earnings leverage, and improving sales efficiency.

How we found the Chart of the Day:

We found the “Chart of the Day” by scanning the Barchart “Signals – Top 100 Stocks” list. The Top 100 Stocks ranks stocks by a combination of their overall opinion, signal strength and signal direction to come up with a list of the top 100 stocks by opinion. Each analytic used within the signals is rated by signal strength and direction. The strengths are allocated 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 points; the directions are allocated 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 points. This gives a maximum of 55 points per signal. The totals are added up depending on buy, sell and hold rating and ranked 1 to 100 for the top 100 bullish stocks and the top 100 bearish stocks. The signal strength and signal direction ratings are available from the advanced opinion pages. Signal strength and signal direction are independent of the signals rating.

Barchart’s Opinion trading systems are all a Buy and Barchart’s Trendspotter trading system is a “Buy.”

Trendspotter: Buy

Short-Term Indicators: 100% Buy

Medium-Term Indicators: 100% Buy

Long-Term Indicators: 100% Buy

Overall Average 100% Buy

The beta version is available at www.barchart.com/beta. Visitors are provided with full access to the beta site, as well as the ability to provide feedback and questions. Barchart will operate the beta site in parallel with the existing version of Barchart.com for a transitional period that will last until the majority of users have transitioned to the new site.

“Before we completely switch over to the beta site we not only want our users to be comfortable with the new service, we also want them to feel a vast enhancement in their experience when using our website,” said Pikat. “The combination of valuable financial content and the ability to easily consume it provides market participants with an edge—and that is what we deliver,” added Pikat.
